PS5 HDMI No Signal Diagnosis
A practical way to separate television, cable, output-setting, HDMI-port and board-level causes when a PlayStation 5 shows no picture.
Turn the console fully off, verify the television is on the correct input and test one known-good HDMI cable and television port. Avoid wiggling or forcing the plug if the console's HDMI port feels loose or looks bent.
What this symptom can mean
A no-signal message can come from the display, cable, video-output setting, damaged HDMI connector, cracked solder joints, protection components or the console's HDMI processing path. Replacing the visible port without checking the surrounding circuit can miss board damage.
The plug is loose or works only at an angle
This strongly suggests physical connector or solder damage. Continuing to hold the cable at an angle can lift pads or damage the board further.
The port looks normal but every display says no signal
Output settings, the HDMI encoder path, protection components and board-level signals still need to be checked; appearance alone does not prove the connector is good.
Another console works on the same cable and TV
That is a useful comparison, but the PS5 output setting, port and internal video path remain separate possibilities.
Safe checks before service
- Confirm the TV input and test one known-good cable and one known-good display input.
- Inspect the console port with light only; do not insert tools or try to bend pins back while it is powered.
- Try the console's documented Safe Mode video-output process only if the port is physically sound.
- Remove adapters, receivers and capture devices so the console connects directly to the display.
- Stop repeated testing if the connector moves, the cable becomes hot or the console has impact or liquid damage.
A damaged port can pull copper pads from the motherboard when the cable is forced sideways. Pad and trace damage makes a straightforward connector replacement more complex.

An HDMI repair should not require deleting console storage. If a different fault requires reset or storage work, that should be explained separately before it is performed.

Answers before you approve a repair
Does no signal always mean the PS5 HDMI port is broken?
No. The cable, television input, output setting and internal HDMI circuit can cause the same message. A loose, bent or visibly damaged port makes connector damage more likely.
Can I use Safe Mode when the screen is blank?
Safe Mode can help with an incompatible video setting when the physical HDMI path works. It cannot repair bent pins, broken solder joints or board-level damage.
Can an HDMI port be replaced without replacing the motherboard?
Often a damaged connector can be replaced with board-level soldering, but the result depends on the condition of the pads, traces and surrounding video circuit.
