Component-level work

Repair the affected connection, when the board supports it.

Microsoldering uses magnification and precision tools to work on connections that are too small for ordinary assembly repair. A repair starts with evidence of the fault—not heat applied to a board that has not been diagnosed.

Charging & power circuits

A device that will not charge or power on may have a failed input component, charging controller or power-management circuit. After checking the adapter, battery and connector, board measurements help identify whether a component-level repair is appropriate. Replacing the charging port alone does not resolve every charging fault.

Ports & board connectors

Damaged soldered charging, USB-C, HDMI and other connectors can require precise removal and replacement. Suitability depends on the model, connector construction and condition of the surrounding board. A loose port may also have torn mounting points or damaged signal connections that need assessment before a replacement is quoted.

Components & integrated circuits

A confirmed shorted capacitor, failed protection component or damaged IC may be replaceable without replacing the complete motherboard. Correct part identification and circuit testing matter: a hot component is a clue, not proof that it is the only failure. Parts availability and board design influence the repair decision.

Lifted pads & broken traces

Impact, corrosion or a previous repair can damage the tiny copper pads and tracks connecting components. Microscope inspection helps determine whether those connections can be restored. Missing internal layers, extensive burns or damage around critical circuits may make a lasting repair impractical even when the visible damage looks small.

Liquid-damaged board assessment

Liquid exposure can affect connectors and several circuits at once. Mashfix evaluates corrosion and electrical damage before proposing cleaning or component work. Disconnect external power, stop charging and keep the device off. Repeated power attempts or a quick dry-out do not establish that the board is safe to use.

Faults after an earlier repair

Tell us if a port, IC or other component was previously replaced or heated. Missing components, solder bridges and damaged pads can change the scope of work. Include the original symptom and what happened after the attempt so the assessment can distinguish the initial fault from additional damage.

From symptom to tested repair

Understand the work before approving it.

A no-power device does not always have a failed motherboard. We consider connected parts and the device history before recommending soldering. Board condition, parts and repair value all affect the decision.

Important files? Tell us first. Review data-recovery options if saving the files matters more than restoring the device.

  1. Assess the device

Share the exact model, symptoms, liquid or impact history and any earlier repair attempts. Inspection and electrical testing help isolate the affected circuit.

  2. Review the quote

We explain the proposed repair, parts, estimated timing and risks. You approve the work before the paid repair proceeds.

  3. Repair and test

Approved component or connection work is followed by checks relevant to the original fault, such as charging, startup, port operation or stability.

Repair destinations are suggested starting points. You can choose another Mashfix location. Microsoldering is bench work, not an onsite home visit. A listed city is a service area, not a separate microsoldering lab; Mashfix confirms the intake and repair route.

What to send with your request

Include the brand, exact model number, what the device does when connected to power, and when the problem started. Tell us about spills, drops, previous repairs and whether the data is important. Describe visible port or board damage without opening or powering a damaged device just to check it.

Please do not put account passwords, device PINs or recovery keys in the online request. After reviewing the details, Mashfix can advise what to bring, which location should receive the device and what assessment is needed.

Warranty: A 30-day limited warranty applies to covered repair work and qualifying parts across device brands. Liquid-damage repairs are excluded. Read the repair terms. Independent Apple board-level work is not Apple warranty service; Apple IRP details explain the distinction.

Before you book

Microsoldering questions, answered.

Is microsoldering the same as motherboard repair?

Microsoldering is one technique used during board repair: it allows work on small soldered components, connectors and copper connections. Motherboard diagnostics identify the cause first. Some problems instead need a battery, cable, firmware service or complete board replacement, so soldering is not automatically the right treatment.

Which devices can I bring for assessment?

Start with your exact model and symptom. Mashfix evaluates Windows laptops, desktop and gaming-PC boards, and out-of-warranty Mac logic boards. Selected phone, tablet and game-console connector or board faults can also be assessed. Repair availability is model-specific; listing a device family does not mean every component or fault is repairable.

How much does microsoldering cost?

The quote depends on the diagnosis, access to the board, damaged components or traces, compatible parts and testing required. A connector replacement and a multi-circuit liquid-damage repair involve different work. Ask about any diagnostic charge at intake. Mashfix explains the proposed repair price and material risks before you authorize paid repairs.

How long does a board repair take?

Timing depends on the fault, workload, parts availability and the testing needed after repair. Intermittent faults and corrosion may need more evaluation than visible connector damage. We provide an estimated timeframe after assessment and update you if additional damage or parts sourcing changes the plan. Same-day completion is not assumed.

Will microsoldering keep my files safe?

The purpose is to repair the affected circuit, not erase your files, but preservation cannot be guaranteed. Storage faults, encryption and soldered-storage designs can complicate access even after the device powers on. Tell us if the files are your priority before any work. A separate data-recovery assessment may be the appropriate first step.

Can you repair the board while visiting my home?

Microsoldering requires bench equipment, controlled handling and testing. It is not performed as an onsite home or office visit. Contact Mashfix to confirm a receiving location or ask about pickup and drop-off arrangements for your address. Service coverage across DFW does not mean every branch has an onsite microsoldering technician.

What if the board cannot be repaired reliably?

We explain the findings and discuss practical alternatives, such as board replacement, a data-first evaluation or replacing the device. The extent of damage, component availability and total cost can make repair unsuitable. We do not promise a successful repair or recovery before assessing the board.
